At Cliffe House we offer a wide choice of activities. Your school will choose their activities before the visit. Have a look and see what you would like to try.

Study of Cliffe House – One for the evening. How was Cliffe House used during the Victorian times? Why are there so many rooms?

Orienteering – Never get lost again! Use a map to explore our grounds looking for hidden clues.

Village Study – Have a good look at Shepley village and its houses.

Habitat Study – What lives where and why?

Bushcraft – work as a team to create shelters, use small tools such as saws and learn about making a safe campfire.

Land Use and Habitat / Microclimate Surveys – Some groups like to study the land use of the countryside around Cliffe House or perhaps compare the wildlife value and microclimates of different habitats.

Woodland Animals – If you go down to the woods today, what animals will you find!

Woodland Plants – What’s that tree? Get up close and personal to the woodland plants.

Play Areas – When you have free time / play time there are a number of areas that you are allowed to use.

Pond Study – Get your net and bucket ready. What’s living in our pond?

Settling In – The process for helping children feel at home

Stream Animal Study – Sieve – check. Bucket – check. Wellies – check. What can live in the water of a shallow stream?

River Study – Time to get wet! How does that river grow?

Reservoir Visit – Where does our tap water come from? Visit one our local reservoirs.

Land-Use Survey – Thermometers and wind meters needed. How does the weather and land affect what’s there?

Farm Study – Pegs on noses! Get face to face with cows, calves and lambs. Then visit the milking parlour at a local dairy farm.

Walks – These feet were made for walking! So take a journey through our beautiful countryside.

Team Building – Work as a team to complete a number of physical and mental challenges.

First Aid – Save a life! Learn a few basic lessons in first aid. Remember what to do and receive a certificate.

Art in the Environment – Bring out your creative side using natural materials.
